Congratulations, Amy, to an engaging poster presentation at the FASEB SRC on B-Vitamins and One-Carbon Metabolism!

Amy Tan, PhD Candidate, and Dr Yvonne Lamers travelled to the US side of the Niagara Falls to attend the FASEB Summer Research Conference (SRC) to share findings from the EpiBrain project and network with our international colleagues in the folate, B-vitamin, and one-carbon metabolism research area.

We greatly enjoyed meeting up with our EpiBrain collaborators, Dr Michelle Murphy, from Spain, with Ailende Eigbefoh-Addeh Imafidon, PhD student in her team, as well as with Drs Helene McNulty, Mary Ward, and the Ulster University team.

Amy gave an excellent presentation on her findings comparing folate status across pregnancy studies in Canada, the UK, and Spain. The ultimate goal of our transnational EpiBrain project is to study the ‘transatlantic folic acid gradient’ and how different folic acid supplementation strategies impact folate biomarkers, epigenetic mechanisms, and neurodevelopmental outcomes in the young child.
